I probably should have explained myself. This is directed more to JWs who do not believe Jesus was/is God, as the Society has devoted significant resources refuting this fundamental concept that is accepted by the vast majority of Christian faiths. In that context, yes, it is important to examine the flip-side of the argument as well - whether Jesus was just a man as they claim, but nothing could be further from the truth. Christ claimed the opposite, going so far as to take the title of the divine name, the I AM. In that sense he did preach it as essential truth, saying, if you do not believe that he is the I Am you will die in your sins.

Examining Scripture to see if Jesus was, and is, God.
by jonathan dough ini'll start with john 14:8-10. .
scriptural support for the triune nature of god, and the gradual recognition that jesus christ, the word incarnate (john 1:1), was and is god, can be found throughout the bible.
the evidence is abundant and unfolds like a flower, foreshadowed in the old testament and revealed in the new testament.

Why not? I'll start with John 14:8-10
The evidence is explicit and implicit as the following discussion of some of the many supporting scriptural verses illustrates.
21) Phillip said to Jesus, "Show us the Father" - (John 14:8-10)
One of Christ’s most emphatic declarations that he was, and is, God, is found at John 14:8-10.Phillip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Phillip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me?”
Any claim by the Jehovah's Witnesses that Jesus thought of himself here as nothing more than a man is absurd. Of course, the Jehovah's Witnesses argue that Jesus could not have meant this because Jesus could be seen but God is an invisible spirit and no one has seen God at any time. Therefore Jesus could not be God. But again they fail to understand the two-fold nature of the divine person of Christ, the hypostatic union, and the indwelling of the Persons of the Trinity (see section 5). It is not the created humanity of Christ that is the Father. Jesus was referring to the divine person who assumed a human nature when He answered Phillip, and in this Person dwelt the fullness of the Godhead (Colossians 2:9).

The right law suit can dredge up this information. Discovery allows for broad inquiries even if tangenital to the initial claim.
Depositions, Requests for Production of Documents, Interrogatories .... you can really make them sweat.

Intellects do not believe in God
by garyneal inon our trip back home from the thanksgiving holiday spent at our home town my wife labeled me an intellect.
normally, i would've been flattered with the title but when she called me that she was referencing the bible verse matthew 11:25. this offended me to say the least.. she said that it was hard for people like me to have faith in something because i will always investigate it and make sure of it.
for example, if someone told me that the grass was green, she said i would not believe them and research grass and the color green to ensure that it really was.. i told her that this was absurd and that i see no reason to research whether or not the grass was green when i can see with my own eyes what color it is.

At what age does a child not have the right to make this decision here in the states? At what age does the court step in and make the decision?

When the JWs are studying a book like the Climax book today, do they stop where there has been a major change in doctrine and have the flock pencil in or otherwise make note of the changes and admit that earlier "truth" was actually false?

How did they know if someone was Circumcised?
by RubaDub inso as not to hijack the current "paul" thread, i'll comment here.
paul spoke about circumcision numerous times and even circumcised timothy.. not to make light of the topic, but i have always wondered, how did anyone know if someone else was circumcised???
i have been a jw my entire life and will honestly tell you that i don't know which brothers are circumcised and which are not.. i mean, did guys back then watch each other at the urinals or peek in the windows when someone was getting dressed?

Resurrection date and parousia questions
by jonathan dough in1) do the jws still believe that the first resurrection of the 144,000 began in 1918 or did they change that?.
2) do they still believe that jesus is present, the parousia is upon us and that he 'returned' invisibly in 1914 or has that also changed?.

Thanks, Bob. This then confirms my suspicion that they have completey backed off of the earlier 1918 theory. I wish they would make up their minds. At least issue inserted updates in their literature so as not to be so misleading to the unsuspecting public.
